According to a recent study by Telsyte Spreets is one of the top 4 major players in the Australian daily deals/group buying scene.
In January 2011, Spreets was acquired by major only player Yahoo!7 in a deal reportedly worth $40 million dollars, following in the wake of Cudo and Jump On It also being bought or financed by major corporations.
In the month prior to the takeover it was reported that Spreets turned over a massive $4 million, making it the leader in the local coupon market.
According to Spreets founder Dean McEvoy, the site was the first group-buying website operated in Australia after Groupon's success in the USA.
In January 2011, Spreets was boasting a membership of over 500,000 with 274,000 vouchers sold during its first 12 months of operation.
